What is it?

Dehydrated skin is characterized by flakey, dull, rough, and sometimes even itchy skin.
Our skin gets stripped of moisture by air conditioning, the weather, lack of sleep, not drinking enough water, long hot showers and not following a gentle and moisturizing skincare routine.
All skin types can become dehydrated, even oily skin – because it’s caused by a lack of water within the skin.
Hydration VS. Moisturization
Dehydrated skin can happen to anyone, even people with oily skin. Hydration refers to the water content in the skin, while moisture refers to the lipids and natural oils on the skin’s surface that prevent the water in the skin from escaping.

What Can You Do to Treat Dehydrated Skin?

Start adding hydrating ingredients (humectants) into your skincare routine. Ingredients that attract water into the skin like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, aloe vera, and other multi-tasking ingredients that aid with hydration like peptides, ceramides, lactic acid, and Centella Asiatica.
Avoid using harsh chemicals excessively on the skin like soaps, harsh cleansers that contain harsh sulfates and fragrance.
Opt for hydrating and soothing serums, a rich moisturizer to lock in moisture, and avoid using chemical exfoliators until you have restored the skin’s hydration and barrier’s health.
